Crossover Trash Metal Legends Aftermath dropped their latest full-length album after reforming as Aftermath in 2015 following the infamous lawsuit against no other than Dr Dre in the 90’s. ‘There’s Something Wrong’ was released on 15 February 2019 via Zoid Entertainment and will also see a CD and LTD Edition LP via Sleaszy Rider Records on 15 March 2019.
The first hard hitting single ‘Diethanasia’ features the trademark grind accompanied by the lyric “From The Black House” adding to the politically charged theme. I feel it does what it says on the tin….hard, trashy and pissed off!
‘False Flag Flying’ opens up with the lyric “We’re back….without empathy” and continues to target similar themes. A slower tempo track with more of a moody, darker feel. A great mid section where I feel the strongest part of the track lays.
‘Scientists and Priests’ may very well be my personal favourite. Filled with charming lyrics that compliment the recurring theme throughout the album.
Although I am not the biggest old skool thrash fan, I do dig this album. It’s a solid effort and a great comeback. Aftermath more than likely deserve more praise for their influence, but I am sure this album will score the hearts of listeners old and new.
